Gerd-Rüdiger Lang is admired for his exceptional talent in revitalizing concepts once forgotten and turning them into practical solutions. His creative ingenuity was unparalleled, evident through his innovations such as reviving and modernising the Onion Crown, a symbol of elegance and functionality that remains a hallmark of his artistry. His pioneering spirit also led to the development of the sapphire case back for commercial use in a wristwatch; an innovation that revealed the intricate movements, once hidden, in all their splendor. He even introduced the regulator, further solidifying his status as a master craftsman. As the sun set on Rüdiger's remarkable journey in March 2023, LANG 1943 embraced his enduring legacy and commitment to excellence.
“After reading an interview from GR Lang a few years ago, I had the feeling he was this type of pioneer and creative mind that brought many ideas to the table but doesn't get the proper rewards for those. He kinda forgot to patent those ideas or seemed not to care about claiming his credit...You cannot help but have a sweet spot for those pure breed of creative minds,”
